So, looking ahead, you can get ready for mouth-watering sausage again in March 2012! The Festival has become so popular after 32 years of success that it occurs on the last Saturdays of March and October every year. If you can’t make it to the Festival on October 29th, no need to despair. Funds raised from the Festival not only benefit the Elberta Fire Department, but also town and local charitable organizations who raise funds from their booths and parking fees. A tip from past attendees is to arrive early to beat the traffic and also to ensure that the cooks have not run out of sausage. The Festival is located in the town park at the intersection of County Road 83 and US Highway 98.

Free wireless internet is available around the park. Carnival rides provide thrills and the 230 arts and crafts booths delight shoppers. Polka, country, and German music will abound. Music and dancing is provided by the Bellview Stumpfiddle Band joined by the North End Stompers and other cloggers. Baked goods and canned goods will be sold at various booths.Īll ages will find entertainment to enjoy. Other tasty food selections include German-style stuffed cabbage, goulash, potato salad, red beans & rice, hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ sandwiches, ice cream, popcorn, and peanuts.

This Gulf Coast sausage recipe has changed slightly over the years, but it is still based on the original secret recipe of Alfred Stucki, who managed Elberta’s Locker Plant from 1953 until his death. Bring a hearty appetite and get ready to enjoy some of the best German sausage and sauerkraut on the Gulf ! The Elberta German Sausage Festival has been held every year since 1978 and draws over 30,000 people who consume about 7,000 pounds of delicious sausage.
